06. The Weather is Fine

I had written the music early in the year and was waiting for the lyrics to appear, which they did, after returning from a trip with my girlfriend, Susan, to Tierra del Fuego.

They say wherever you go,

well, that’s where you are

Were we really up all last night

riding the stars?

We learned long ago to live

each moment in time

We know wherever we are

The weather is fine

We travel to latitudes south

with no real plan

A map lays on the seat,

we barely give it a glance

The world and the worry

we left all of that far behind

We know wherever we are

the weather is fine

We walk in the sun, feel warmth

in our hearts, on our face

High on a mountain

our joy cannot be erased

This life we live is all about

state of mind

We know wherever we are

The weather is fine

Chorus

The weather is fine

whether there’s wind or it snows

because we feel prepared with

dry boots and warm clothes

The weather is fine

even when seasons change

Because life is lived now

and cannot be arranged

So we make each day

as if it were our last

No concern for the future

The past, well, that’s in the past

We’ll keep to riding stars,

avoid maps’ thick lines

We know wherever we are

The weather is fine

We know wherever we are

The weather is fine

We know wherever we are

The weather is fine

Cha cha cha
